GARDAI in Limerick are investigating after a mobile phone was stolen from a man in the city.

The incident happened on Friday, November 17 at 12:30am on Denmark Street.

The man in his mid 20s was out for the night and was speaking on his phone on Upper Denmark Street.

Suddenly, another male ran past him, grabbed his mobile phone and kept running. The young man gave chase but had to give up.

Sergeant Ber Leetch, Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street garda station said: "Mobile phones are a target for criminals as they are easy to sell on, do not show that you have one.

"Be streetwise and pay attention to your surroundings, criminals can spot a moment of weakness and take your property in a second. Be vigilant; if you must use your phone go into a shop or garage."
