Padraig Broderick, the proprietor of the Spar store in Croom, celebrates his award after the ceremony in Dublin
THE PROPRIETOR of a popular County Limerick store is once again in the prizes.
Padraig Broderick has seen his Spar shop in Croom win a top industry award.
He was presented with a Checkout National Grocery Retail Award for retail store of the year, in the small supermarket category.
It came at an awards ceremony held at Dublin’s Radisson Blu Royal hotel over the weekend.
The awards are designed to honour the owners of best in class retailing across Ireland.
Spar sales director Colin Donnelly said: “I want to offer my wholehearted congratulations to Padraig and his team in Spar Croom on this prestigious award and national recognition.
“The whole team is so very deserving of this accolade, and they are great champions for the Spar brand,” he added.
He was also a finalist in Ireland’s best food to go offering.
Mr Broderick heaped praise on his team, saying: “It's a super achievement for the team and great recognition of all our hard work. Our goal of making Broderick's Spar Croom a fresh food destination is becoming a reality. Our fresh meat business has always been the backbone of the shop but now it's very well complimented with our new bakery. We are very proud to see
Croom in the national final and its very heartwarming to hear the reaction of all our customers.”
The National Grocery Retail Awards are one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the Irish grocery retail calendar and those honoured are recognised as being true industry standard bearers.
