THE JP McManus Pro-Am saw the best golfers in the world, stars of stage and screen and tens of thousands of fans join together to raise over €140m for good causes and represent “the best of Limerick”.

The golf extravaganza raised a massive €141,746,757 in total with over €48m of that already allocated to local charities, care centres and community projects throughout the Mid-West.

The remaining money, a total of €93.7m, will be allocated to projects awaiting approval.

Some of the local organisations that benefited from the funds include the Children’s Grief Centre, Croom Hospital and Cuan Mhuire in Bruree.

So far the money has gone towards the Irish Red Cross who received two new vehicles, a new CT scanner was purchased for St John’s Hospital and a retrofit was carried out at the Milford Hospice property.

Over €22m has been given to healthcare projects, €10m has gone to community programmes and over €14m was donated to infrastructure help.

The event, held in July 2022, saw 80,000 people descend on Limerick to catch a glimpse of some of the best golfers in the world as well as an array of famous faces. Ten of the top 11 golfers in the world took to the course at Adare Manor alongside a host of celebrities for the invitational event.

Now it has been confirmed that the sold-out two-day event raised over €141 million for charities in Limerick and across the Mid-West.

Speaking about the huge figures raised by the two-day event, JP McManus said: “The Pro-Am represents the best of Limerick.

"The best of the golfing world. The best of people.

“The Pro-Am raises lots of money which is the main thing but it also unites people and shows us all what we can do when we work, not as individuals, but as a community.

“It has been 12 years since our last event, so we really wanted to make this one count. From the beginning, community has been the backbone of this tournament. Community is why the event has stood the test of time.”

The two-day event saw some of the biggest names in sport descend on Adare along with famous celebrities from music, TV and film.

Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy were just some of the professional golfers who took to the fairways.

The crowds also got to get up close and personal with the likes of Bill Murray, Niall Horan, Jamie Dornan and Westlife taking part in the tournament.

More than 1,000 volunteers joined the celebrities and golfers on the course to make sure the event ran smoothly.

The huge volunteer force which included organisations like the Irish Red Cross, St John Ambulance, Tidy Towns groups and hundreds of stewards.

The star-studded event also provided a major economic boost to Adare and the wider area and saw thousands of spectators travel from all over Ireland, and further afield to take in the event and the golfing on offer.
