In Pictures: Excitement personified in Na Piarsaigh for Limerick club hurling final

“EVERY YEAR is special” stated Na Piarsaigh club secretary, Lavinia Duggan, as the club prepares for another Bon Secours Limerick Senior Hurling Final against Patrickswell this Saturday.

The reigning champions will be hoping to make it back-to-back victories in the championship final and all at the Na Piarsaigh club are behind them.

The Caherdavin men had an extremely tough semi-final victory against Doon eventually winning out 4-3 in penalties in an extremely long and testing match.

Lavinia continued by saying “The club is just immensely proud of the lads, it is just excitement personified. You see how hard the players work just to even get to the final and you see the time and commitment that everyone puts in, it just makes the occasion even more special.”

Na Piarsaigh are no strangers to county finals with Saturday’s game being the teams eleventh appearance in the final.

The squad is bolstered with the inclusion of county players such as Mike and Peter Casey, Willian O’Donoghue and Conor and currently injured Jerome Boylan alongside the talented club players coming up through the ranks.

“All the younger kids in the club look up to these players and now with another final they are saying to themselves God that could be me one day. The club is completely united behind them and we are all hoping they do themselves proud and that they have a good game. This senior team are in their prime and are passing on the baton to our younger players and it will be such an exciting day” said club secretary Lavinia.

A win this October 28 in the TUS Gaelic Grounds will see Na Piarsaigh winning their first back-to-back senior club hurling titles since 2018 when they overcame Doon.

This years final is set up to be one of the most entertaining games of the year with Patrickswell beating Na Piarsaigh once already this year in the first round of the championship.
