Limerick man loses over €1,000 in eFlow scam

A LIMERICK man lost €1,100 after falling victim to an eFlow scam. 

The man in his 50s received a text at 9am on Thursday, October 5 that requested he pay a recent toll. 

The Raheen man replied to the text with his bank account details and paid the amount.

A short time later, he discovered that over €1,100 euro had been removed from his bank account.

Sergeant Ber Leetch, Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street garda station said: "If you receive a request for you bank details by any means be it paper or electronic for any payment, Stop and Think SCAM.

"Take your time and ask a trusted friend or family member….could this be a scam?"
