TWO LIMERICK employees have won regional awards for their customer service excellence and work ethic.
Mick McKeon who works at Colbert Station in the city was named regional winner and was a finalist in the national category for overall in station CX Excellence and Onboard Customer Service Officer, at Iarnród Éireann’s inaugural CX Awards which took place at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
John O’Keefe was named regional winner and was a finalist in the national category for On-Board CX Excellence.
These awards aim to recognise railway workers who “go the extra mile” to provide “excellent customer service to our customers and to our colleagues,” according to the Iarnród Éireann CEO, Jim Meade.
Nominees praised Mick for his dedication to his work, recognising that he always carries out his duties in a consistent fashion and remains calm at times of disruption. The person who nominated John said that they had travelled on a service with John recently and most of the customers greeted him by name and were happy to see him.
Speaking at the awards, CEO Jim Meade said: “These awards give recognition to members of my team - both Mick and John exemplify our company values and are worthy winners.”
Minister for Transport, Éamonn Ryan TD said: “Mick and John and the other winners here today are shining examples of what excellent customer service is.
“Public transport is all about people, and if you can provide excellent customer experience, more people will make the switch to greener travel.”
