Memorial service for Limerick-born hairdresser to the stars

Hairdresser John Barrett sadly passed away last month

THE CELEBRATED life and times of Limerick-born hairdresser to the stars John Barrett will be remembered in his home parish this weekend.

A memorial Mass is to take place for Mr Barrett, who styled the hair of Catherine Zeta-Jones, the late Princess Diana, Martha Stewart and Beyonce among others.

It will take place at noon this Saturday, September 16 at St Molua's Church in Ardagh.

The hair stylist, who owned two salons in New York City, sadly passed away last month following a short illness aged 66.

In a tribute on www.rip.ie, his family have described him as "wonderful and talented".

He is predeceased by his parents John and Philomena, brothers Christopher and Jimmy and sister Peggy.

Mr Barrett's family added: "He will be forever cherished by brothers Pat, Mike, Eddie, Joe, Gerry and sister Kathleen their families, and a large circle of loyal friends in New York."

Following his sad passing last month, he was remembered as being a "lovely warm gentleman" who "never forgot his Limerick roots."
