Man arrested and charged in relation to fatal Limerick collision

A MAN has been arrested and charged in relation to a fatal road traffic collision in County Limerick 18 months ago. 

The collision, involving an articulated truck and a car occurred in the early hours of March 18, 2022 in the townland of Killeheen on the main N21 road close to Rathkeale.

The truck, which was transporting thousands of chickens, was travelling from Newcastle West at the time while the sole occupant of the car was coming from the opposite direction.

In an update, issued this Friday afternoon, gardai say a man, aged in his 50s, appeared before Newcastle West District Court this Friday morning after he was arrested and charged in connection with the collision.

Following the procedural hearing, he was remanded on bail to appear before the courts again on December 8.
