In Pictures: Public enjoys rare glimpse inside Limerick castle

RENOWNED landscape designer Catherine FitzGerald and her husband, actor Dominic West, welcomed more than 1,000 people to their County Limerick home during an open day, last weekend.

The sun shone and there was a relaxed atmosphere as members of the public wandered around Glin Castle and its immaculate gardens. There were also guided tours of the castle with visitors being given access to rooms including the drawing room, the dining room and the library.

While Catherine, Dominic and their family are largely based in the UK, they regularly return to Ireland to spend time in Glin when the children are on their school holidays.

Glin Castle, formerly Glin House, has been in the family of the Knights of Glin since the early 13th century.

The open cay doubled as a fundraiser for Glin Development Association.
