Public feedback sought on flood relief scheme in Limerick

MEMBERS of the Limerick public are being invited to give their feedback on the preferred option for the Castleconnell flood relief scheme at an event this Wednesday, September 6.

As part of the ongoing development of a viable flood relief scheme for the village and surrounds, Limerick City and County Council, wish to invite members of the public, local businesses and organisations to attend a public participation day.

It is being run in conjunction with  the Office of Public Works and the appointed environmental and engineering consultants JBA Consulting and JB Barry & Partners.

The event will take place in the Castle Oaks House Hotel, Castleconnell from 4pm to 8pm.

Presentations from the project team will be delivered at 5pm and at 7pm.

A council spokesperson said: “This will provide an opportunity to provide feedback on the identified preferred option ahead of the planning submission for the proposed flood relief scheme.

“The scheme is currently in the preferred option development phase.

“The project team previously presented three scheme options to the public at a public participation day in Castleconnell in September 2022.”

Based on the feedback received at that event, along with other key considerations, a preferred option was identified and is currently being progressed to planning stage.

Interested parties will have the opportunity to engage with the project team this Wednesday and share feedback ahead of the planning submission.

All stakeholders are welcome to attend.

Information on the proposed scheme will also be made available after the event via the dedicated website, www.castleconnellfrs.ie
