Homeowner offers bunk beds to Limerick students for €500 a month

Bunk beds offered to Limerick students for €500 a month

Bunk beds advertised on Daft.ie

AS STUDENTS struggle to find accommodation, a homeowner in Limerick is renting bunk beds for up to €500 each a month, not including utilities.

The homeowner is renting six bunk beds in two separate rooms, one advertised as a room to be shared between four people and the other as a two-persons shared room.

The rooms are being let in the North Circular Road area.

Additionally, the homeowner is also looking for students to rent out two other rooms in the house, each priced over €1,000.

In total, nine students would occupy the house and the full occupancy of all beds would bring in over €5,000 a month.

An advertisement for the property on Daft.ie website offers: “4 persons shared room, single bunk 480 per month (male or female dorm). 2 persons shared room, single bunk 500 per month (male or female dorm). 2 persons private room, double bed, 1,100 per month (couples). 1 person private room, double bed, 1000 per month.”

The homeowner describes the house as “a fun, safe and clean space for dedicated students who know how to live with other people.”

They also require the prospective tenants to put down rent, a deposit and one month’s utilities in advance. The homeowner also offers the weekly option of bed change with fresh towels and linen for €20 per week.

On top of the rent, utilities are priced at €100 per person.

Earlier this month, another landlord was renting three sets of bunk beds in one room, for the price €2,500 per month. The offer received a lot of backlash on social media. Since then, the ad was taken down from Daft.ie

At the time of publication, 64 shared accommodations were available to rent in Limerick County, and 26 properties were available for rent.
