Sinead O'Brien and her son Jacob
IT IS not the first time Limerick lady Sinead O’Brien got fans going before an All-Ireland final.
Patrickswell singer-songwriter Sinead O’Brien sang live ahead of the 2018 All-Ireland hurling final in Croke Park saying: “I mean it is the best stage in the world and please god next year I might get to perform live as Limerick go for five.”
As Limerick took on Kilkenny over the weekend Sinead experienced a full circle moment as her new song Today was sung by fans on the way to Croke Park the same day of its release.
The song skyrocketed to number one on the ITunes Charts and Sinead said; “I was hopeful it would do well but I didn't think it would go as well as it did. It went in as number 200 on the charts on Saturday night and it was supposed to be released the next day but people had started to download it already and when I woke up it was number one and I couldn't believe it.”
Sinead is also an Influencer and business owner and her Instagram was flooded with messages from her fans playing her new song however she never expected the reaction from her home county saying: “It was unbelievable and the day itself made it incredible and to be part of any bit of excitement, I was thrilled.”
Talking on the inspiration behind the song Sinead said; “I have been singing for many years now and I thought it would be nice to write my own song. I had thought it would be a wedding song and it has grown since and people see it as a beautiful love song.”
As Sinead watched the match at home, it was a special day in the O’Brien household all around as it was son Jacob's first Limerick final and Sinead said; “He had his Limerick jersey on him, he loves it and I can hear Limerick Abú already.”
