Big screen details revealed for Limerick v Kilkenny showdown in county town

A BIG SCREEN event will take place in Newcastle West this Sunday as Limerick's hurlers bid for their fourth straight All-Ireland title.
Pictures will be beamed back from Croke Park to Limerick's county town, with a huge 20 foot screen to be installed in the shadow of Desmond Castle in the coming days.
The news was confirmed this Tuesday by councillor Michael Collins.
It's the second time the West Limerick town will have hosted a watch party for the All-Ireland final, The Square also being the venue when Limerick ended a 45-year wait to land hurling's holy grail in 2018.
Like last year, Kilkenny are Limerick's opposition for the final, with throw in at 3.30pm.
"This will be a family event and allow those unable to access tickets or unable to travel to Croke Park experience the atmosphere of a big event," said Cllr Collins.
"A similar event was held in 2018 by Newcastle West Business Association and supported by Limerick City and County Council. That event was a huge success in the town centre and greatly added to by Limerick’s win. We will be hoping for similar success next Sunday as Limerick push for four in a row," he added.
Local volunteers, the gardai and council will help ensure the event is a success, Cllr Collins said.
Some traffic restrictions will be in place.
Cllr Collins is encouraging people travelling to Newcastle West on Sunday to park on the edge of the town and avoid driving into The Square.
Gardaí and stewards will be in place all afternoon and the public are asked for their full cooperation.
A big screen event is also planned for Limerick city centre, and it's anticipated further information will also be released on this event later this Tuesday.
