Man impersonating landscaper steals €3,000 of equipment in Limerick

A MAN stole over €3,000 in equipment after impersonating a landscaper in Limerick.

A man in his 30s, who is a landscaper, was working on the grounds of a city centre hotel last Thursday, July 6 around lunchtime.

He noticed another male wearing a high-vis jacket and hard hat but assumed he was also working around the hotel.

The landscaper went to his van and there he saw the male stealing his landscaping equipment from his van.

The male ran off with over €3,000 euro worth of equipment and jumped into another vehicle.

Sergeant Ber Leetch, Crime Prevention Officer Henry Street Garda Station said: "It just shows that if we must always be vigilant and suspicious.

"If we see someone in a high viz jacket and hardhat we assume that they are workers and not thieves, do not be so sure."
