PUT YOUR gardening skills to the test with Limerick Going for Gold, the Most Beautiful Front Garden Competition this summer.

Launched by new mayor Councillor Gerald Mitchell at the Council’s Medieval Garden in Merchants Quay, applicants from local residents are being sought after.

The deadline for applications is Friday, August 4, while judging takes place from mid-August until early September. The winner will be announced at the gala Limerick Going for Gold awards in October.

Speaking of the benefits of gardening, Mayor of Limerick City and County Cllr Mitchell said: “Gardening is good for our well-being and provides valuable pockets of habitat for wildlife throughout our city and county.

“When a garden is visible from a public road it also brightens our community.”

To qualify for the competition: The garden must be visible from a public road, a minimum of two photographs must be submitted and a location map (and GPS Co-ordinates/Eircode) must be submitted with each application form.

Completed application forms to be sent by post to: Most Beautiful Front Garden Competition, Manager’s Office, Parkway Shopping Centre, Dublin Road, Limerick.
