Why do we hate the weather in Limerick?
Great drying out. If only we could put a roof on it. Never seen rain like it.
Those are some of the most common phrases we hear and weather is always a strong topic of conversation among friends, neighbours, people you meet on the street and with a taxi driver.
But a survey has revealed Ireland’s most weather obsessed towns and Limerick people have the least interest in the forecast.
Carrick-on-suir in Tipperary came out on top as the most interested in the wind, rain, hail and sunshine while Tramore, Clonroche, Derrinturn and Ennis make up the rest of the top 5.
The research was carried out by Wizer Energy who gathered data through Google searches with an estimated 20,000 people entering the word ‘weather’.
“Checking the weather forecast constantly is something we do ourselves, it has a huge impact on how and where we work. In our line of work, we’re outside nearly 90% of the time installing solar panels around the country and some of the most common questions we get from clients are all weather related.
"Will the Panels work when it’s cloudy? Or when it’s raining? Are they even worth it in Ireland?’ and the answer is always yes – Obviously now in the height of summer with longer days the panels can be more effective, but they work efficiently all year around and can be used to supplement a large portion of the electrical energy needs of most households,” Martin Desmond, Managing Director of Wizer Energy explained.
