Funnyman Fred Cooke to take centre stage at iconic Limerick venue

Fred will bring his comedy gig to Dolan's this Friday

RECOGNISED for his unique brand of energy and wit, comedian Fred Cooke is returning to Dolan's, and with family living around the Treaty County, he says gigging in Limerick is "like a family reunion."

Born and raised in County Meath, Fred has become a household name in the Irish comedy scene, known for his distinctive style and stage presence.

With numerous television appearances, a loyal fanbase, and the odd Spar ad, Fred has established himself as one of the country's playful comedians.

Now excited to deliver his upcoming show, Right Said Freddie, at the iconic city venue this Friday, Fred says his Limerick-based cousins always come out to support, and “are always sat in the exact same place at gigs so I always feel I have to come up with new stuff,” he laughs.

Support acts set the tone for a performance, and with that in mind Fred has decided to keep the act a little bit closer to home.
Julie Jay is known for bringing her own brand of observational comedy to the stage. With a sharp sense of humour she was the perfect choice to support Fred - that, and they're married!

Most certainly going to be a family affair, Fred laughs that there won't be any need for a babysitter for their toddler as, "we'll have Ted playing the harp."

While they always have a laugh together onstage, Fred jokes, all in good fun of course, that the pair are like the "John and Mary of Father Ted."

With "so many themes" to show throughout the show, Fred explains what is to come in three simple words, "clown to earth." Describing himself as a "natural clown," the comedian adds that outside of his work, he has had to take more and more responsibility since marriage and fatherhood.

"I still maintain that performance," he says, "but outside of it there is massive responsibility, so I play on that."

Tickets are still on sale for the comedy show this Friday, where the funnyman hopes to share some stories through song and dance, accompanied by his trusty acoustic guitar.

Purchasable on the Dolan's website, viewers will also find a short teaser of what is to come from Ireland's self-titled clown.
