A PEACEFUL protest is to take place at the town plaza, main street, Charleville, on Friday, June 16 from 5.30pm to 6pm to highlight pedestrian safety.

Charleville Community Forum organisers announced details of the protest this Tuesday. It follows a public meeting, attended by hundreds, in the Charleville Park Hotel on Wednesday evening, May 31.

Eight people have lost their lives in traffic collisions in the last 10 years in the town which is close to the Limerick border.
