Gardai investigate serious assault in resort popular with Limerick holidaymakers

No finer time to be in Ballybunion than September

Ballybunion was thronged this bank holiday weekend

A MAN was rushed to University Hospital Kerry after a serious assault in Ballybunion on Saturday evening.

The town has been thronged this sunny bank holiday weekend with many visiting from Limerick city and county to cool off at the beach and soak up the sun.

A garda spokesperson told Limerick Live that gardaí were alerted to an alleged assault in Ballybunion, Co Kerry on Saturday evening. 

"A male was taken to University Hospital Kerry with non-life threatening injuries. Investigations are ongoing at this time," said the garda spokesperson.

Anybody who may have witnessed the assault on the young man or has any information that may help gardai with their enquiries is asked to contact Listowel garda station on 068 50820.

There is a greater garda presence in Ballybunion during busy periods in the summer months.
