In pictures: Sun shines on Limerick community for May Fair

THE weather gods played their part to ensure the annual vintage rally and May Fair in Dromcollogher was an “outstanding success”.

A family-friendly day of fun was had, with a plentiful turnout and a wide range of stalls for people to browse and enjoy.

The annual event acts as a fundraiser for Dromcollogher & District Respite Centre - a registered charity and community based, community driven, stand alone facility where older people can avail of temporary care.

Founded by local man Seamus Stack, the centre opened in 2002.

The fundraising committee hosts a vintage car rally and May Fair this time of year - allowing local residents to get together and kick off summer, while supporting what is a crucial service in the community.

Founder of the respite centre Seamus said: “We were very lucky, as the day cleared up for us and the sun was shining. It was very well attended by all. There were stalls of all descriptions and there was a vintage car display, which vintage enthusiasts from near and far made the effort to come and see.

“I would like to thank those who are connected to the respite care centre, such as staff who very kindly gave their time, committee members Mort Madden, PJ Hartnett, Dave O'Leary and Canon Ambrose.”

Independent TD Richard O'Donoghue, who attended the fundraising festivities, shared a glimpse into his time at this year’s event on Facebook, where he congratulated organisers.

“There was a fantastic turn out to support a great cause at the Annual Vintage Rally & May Fair 2023. Very well done to everyone who organised this event,” he wrote.

Prior to the weekend, several local farmers donated calves which were sold at Dromcollogher Mart with all proceeds from the sale going to the respite centre.
