The late Margaret Lyons
HEARTFELT tributes have been paid to the late Margaret Lyons, who died following a collision involving a lorry in Charleville.
Margaret Lyons (née Moore) died at the scene of the fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the town's main street at 3.45pm on Monday.
Aged 72, the mother-of-four was from Ardmore in Charleville, and late of Garristown, Co Dublin.
She leaves behind her husband, Seamus, and her children, Yvonne, Alison, Orla, and Damien.
Margaret was well known in the Charleville community for her work with The Holy Family School, Cootehill.
Described as “inspirational” and a “true lady,” Margaret was popular on the green at Charleville Golf Club.
“Sincere condolences to all of the Lyons family on the tragic passing of Margaret, it was an honour to have known her, she was such a kind and friendly lady. She will be missed by us all. May she rest is peace,” said Eileen Curtin of Holy Family School in tribute.
“Seamus and family, my heart goes out to you all on the dreadful, sad loss of Margaret. There are few words that do Margaret justice. Unrivaled and inspirational, she was one of the best and I had the honour of working with her. Always guaranteed a great start to your day when going to Margaret's bus because you always came away smiling. Loved meeting her in Ballyheighue also. Rest well Margaret, you will be missed,” read another tribute.
Described as a “wonderful mother,” Margaret will be sadly missed by her husband Seamus. She was the much-loved mother of Yvonne, Alison, Damien, Orla and the late baby Adrian, adored grandmother of James, Leah, Sam, Áine, Sarah and Caoimhe.
Dearly missed by her brother Vincent, sisters Geanette and Attracta and the late Aidan and Richard, sons-in-law Gerard and Pat, Yvonne’s partner Stephen, Damien’s partner Deirdre, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and a large circle of friends.
Reposing in Hawe, O’Keeffe’s funeral home, Bakers Road, in Charleville on Friday, May 19 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, followed by prayers.
Requiem Mass on Saturday, May 20 at 1pm in Holy Cross Church, in Charleville. A service will follow at 3pm in the Shannon Crematorium. Family flowers only, and donations, in lieu, to the Holy Family School.
