CCTV footage of the suspect was broadcast on RTÉ's Crime Call
GARDAI investigating damage caused to a bus in Limerick city have issued a public appeal for information.
CCTV footage from the incident which occurred last October was broadcast on RTÉ One’s Crime Call programme.
Crime Call is a monthly, hour-long television programme, it plays a vital role in assisting An Garda Síochána with ongoing investigations.
Gardai showed a clear image of the man who was wearing a face mask and are appealing to the public for any information on who he might be.
According to gardai, the man was attempting to get the bus to stop at O'Connell Avenue, when it was passing by - the bus slowed down but drove on.
“At the next stop the man gets on and a disagreement with the driver occurs. The suspect spits at the driver and punches the partition before he gets off,” garda Greg Freegrove said.
After getting off the man threw an object at the bus causing the glass door to shatter as the bus drove away.
Garda Freegrove said the picture of the man taken from the security footage is “quite clear” as the suspect's brown hair and glasses can be clearly seen along with most of his face despite the face mask.
Anyone who recognises the man on the bus can call any garda station.
