GARDAI are advising traders and customers at Limerick's Milk Market to be vigilant following a recent theft incident.

At at around 11am on Saturday last, April 15, a phone belonging to a stall-holder was taken by a brazen thief.

"At approximately 11am a woman was working at her stall, she was busy with customers and put her mobile phone down on the table for a moment, when she reached for it again she discovered that it was gone. Initial thoughts were that it had fallen but the area was searched and the phone was not found," said divisional crime prevention officer Sergeant Ber Leetch.

"The woman was shocked at the speed of the thief but we know that they look like you and I and are very quick to spot a

chance to steal," she added

The garda advice is to keep your valuable personal property on your person at all times.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
