Staff at Cube Printing marking the anniversary of the company which opened in 1996
AWARD-WINNING Limerick print and design company Cube has been in business for 27 years.
During that time, management at the firm, located at Ballysimon Road on the outskirts of the city, have seen many changes which have impacted on it.
Chief among these, says TJ Ryan, Cube's sales director, were the move by Dell to significantly downsize its operation at Raheen and the Covid-19 pandemic which dominated the opening years of this decade.
Despite all this, Cube remains strong, and is currently providing work for 40 local people.
At the forefront of the pharmaceutical print industry since 1996, Cube specialises in the printing of instructions for use booklets and product information leaflets.
This information is normally provided for the medical device, pharmaceutical and technology markets.
Crucial to Cube's success, Mr Ryan says, is the loyalty of its staff and customer base.
"People have stayed with us for a long time and they are really pleased with the success of Cube Printing. Brendan Ring and Frank Fitzsimons were the key drivers early on. We were in a very small office in Henry Street, but we moved to Ballysimon in 2002. Cube has been a key driver in the print industry in Limerick and the Mid-West for the last 27 years, and I'd hope it will be around for another 27!"
Mr Ryan himself is celebrating a personal milestone with Cube Printing.
For this June, he will have served 21 years in the company.
"I was only 27 when I joined. I didn't know a huge amount about the industry so I learnt as I went on. It's been all positive, I have to say. From my point of view, I'd like to express huge thanks to Brendan Ring and Frank Fitzsimons. They have taught me everything I know," he said.
Since the company opened in 1996, the world of printing technology has transformed beyond belief.
"There has been so many changes - file transfers, emails, getting files sent on your phone. The print technology and machinery has changed with it, all for the better. What the next 27 years will bring, we just don't know!"
