In Pictures: All smiles at Limerick community centre for Easter bonnet competition

DOZENS of people attended St Munchin's Community Centre in Kileely, for its annual Easter bonnet competition.

There was an egg-citing atmosphere - and a variety of colourful hats on show - as members of its seniors club enjoyed the countdown to Easter.

Members of the the Irish Wheelchair Association were also present, alongside Minister of State Kieran O'Donnell.

There was singing and dancing - including an Easter parade around the centre to the Judy Garland classic, Easter Bonnet.

Linda Ledger, chief executive of the centre said everybody in the audience was given an egg, with larger prizes reserved for those with the most impressive bonnets!

"It's just a nice chance to sit down, have a bit of lunch and have a sing song, and a little bit of happiness with our elderly who were locked in at home when Covid-19 was ongoing," she said.

Linda said she was impressed with the hats which were on display.

"The real winners are the ones who show the most initiative, whoever comes up with the best ideas. Unfortunately some people have the same hat each year - they don't get as big an Easter egg as they don't show any initiative. They take it very seriously," she told the Limerick Leader/Limerick Live.
