FOLLOWING the murder of a woman in Limerick city earlier this week, the Socialist Feminist Movement, ROSA has organised a protest in support of all femicide victims.

It says the protest, which will take place on Bedford Row in the city centre next Thursday (April 13), will see supporters "stand in solidarity with this young woman and her loved ones," adding, "we stand with all victims of men’s violence against women and LGBTQIA people."

Investigations into the woman's death - at an apartment on Dock Road on Tuesday afternoon - are continuing and a 26-year-old man, who was arrested in Northern Ireland on Thursday remains in custody in Belfast.

A post mortem was carried out on the woman's body at University Hospital Limerick this Wednesday and technical examinations of the two separate scenes are ongoing.

Commenting ahead of next week's protest, a spokesperson for ROSA said: "We need to bring this issue out of the shadows by coming onto the streets in solidarity with every victim of abuse, every victim of femicide and to exclaim that Not One More life can be taken."

Thursday's protest will begin at 5.30pm.

Anyone with information about what happened on Tuesday is asked to contact Henry Street garda station at (061) 212400.
