FIREFIGHTERS from three different stations are battling a house blaze on the northside of Limerick city this Tuesday night.

Three appliances from Mulgrave Street, two from Shannon and one from Cappamore are at the scene of the house fire on the Ennis Road.

Limerick Fire and Rescue Service received the report at 9.46pm and rushed to the scene. Assistance from colleagues in Shannon and Cappamore was required due to the ferocity of the blaze. Plumes of smoke can be seen from miles around.

It is not known if the house was occupied at the time the fire broke out.

Videos of the blaze have been widely shared on social media. Onlookers expressed their surprise at how quickly the fire escalated.

It is understood that firefighters will be in attendance throughout the night to battle the blaze and attempt to prevent damage to neighbouring properties.
