THE CITY centre could be getting new speed zones of 30km/h, following the proposal to implement such zones in the city centre.
Limerick city and county council (LCCC) are seeking public views on whether the implementation of these slower speeds are needed.
Public consultations are now open, where people can make submissions in writing or online about their thoughts on the implementation of the new speed limit proposal.
A spokesperson for LCCC said: “Limerick City Centre and its surrounds are currently undergoing a transformation from a car centric city to a modern city capable of sustaining a multi-modal transportation system.
“The introduction of a 30km/h speed limit complements the aims of the new transportation-led development plan, which strives to create a compact 10 minute walkable city centre.”
A copy of the plans will be available online until April 28. All details are available on Limerick.ie.
