A LIMERICK school celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge 2023 with a lively céilí.

Pupils from Coláiste Nano Nagle on Sexton Street in Limerick city welcomed musicians from the Bachelor of Arts in Irish Music Programme from the University of Limerick to launch the start of Seachtain na Gaeilge with a Céilí Mór under the directorship of their course leader Dr. Niall Keegan.

The students from UL, as well as accomplished musician Joanne Ward showcased their talents by playing the fiddle, the harp, uilleann pipes as well performing a reel sean nós style with all Coláiste Nano Nagle students and staff dancing to the Siege of Ennis.

Cór Nano Nagle sang Siú la Rún and students and staff from Presentation Primary School also showcased their musical talents with sixth class student Keliece on the tin whistle.

Amhrán na bhFiann brought the ceremony to a close. All proceeds from the event went to Pieta House. This event was organised as part of the school’s Amber Flag Initiative.
