Fundraiser launched for family of 'dear friend' James Flanagan

This GoFundMe pledges to support his family in the next stages without their beloved James'

A FUNDRAISER has been launched to provide "a secure future" for the late James Flanagan's wife Fiona and newborn son Jack after his sudden passing.

Launched earlier this week, a GoFundMe pledges to support James's family with the "unexpected funeral costs" but also to "support Jack and Fiona in continuing on in life without financial stress."

The group is just shy of their €20k goal, and are "very appreciative of any support" made towards the GoFundMe.

Organised by a group of James' close friends, they wrote online that they are "still numb with the shock of James passing, his untimely death coinciding with was supposed to be the start of fatherhood and a special life with Fiona."

As a parting tribute, the organisers of the donation page wrote, "There are no words to describe how important James was to his family and friends and we will always keep his memory alive."

The loss of the sportsman was a moment of great sadness for the people of the Treaty County, with tributes pouring in from the sporting community and indeed from his home club Fairview Rangers.

A donation link to support James' bereaved family can be found here.

Formerly of Lynwood Park and TUS, James passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, February 15.

Beloved partner of Fiona Geraghty, proud dad of Jack, dearest son of Irene and the late John and loving brother of Jean-Claire.

He is sadly missed by his family, Fiona’s parents David & Aine and her brothers Dave & Ian, James’ uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, relatives & his many many friends.
