Man killed in collision between car and truck in Limerick named locally

Busy city road reopens following  crash

The collision took place on Dock Road

A MAN who died in a road collision that occurred in County Limerick earlier this week has been named locally as Aidan Nestor.

Mr Nestor died following a collision between a truck and a car on the N21 outside Rathkeale which occurred at 3.30pm on Tuesday afternoon. 

Mr Nestor of Shanagolden, County Limerick and late of Askeaton was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries to persons were reported.

Mr Nestor will be reposing at Kieran Madigan's Funeral Home, Main Street, Askeaton this Thursday from 6pm to 8pm.

Arriving at Shanagolden Church on Friday for Requiem Mass at 11am followed by private cremation in Shannon Crematorium.

Predeceased by his dad Brendan. Beloved husband of Vanessa (nee Behan) adored and adoring father of Amy, Matthew and Zoe.

Deeply regretted by his mother Ann, mother-in-law Helen, sister Jean, aunt Marie, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and a large circle of friends, including co-workers in Wyeth.

Following the collision, the road was closed and diversions were put in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N21 in the Rathkeale area between 3pm and 3:40pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
