A TOTAL of €200,000 has been allocated to two community projects in Limerick.
Geraldines AFC and Mungret St Paul's GAA Club are the worthy recipients of €100,000 in funding from Limerick City and County Council.
In June 2020, councillors from the Limerick Metropolitan Area signed off on over €1.5 million of funding to strategic projects.
While significant progress has been made with the many projects identified, some projects have not proceeded.
Following consultation with elected members of the Metropolitan district, it was proposed to re-assign the funding to alternative projects in the local electoral area.
A total of €100,000 has been reassigned to the Mungret St Paul's GAA Community Hall Extension and refurbishment programme.
Meanwhile, the €100,000 that was allocated to the construction of footpaths in Garryowen has been reassigned to Geraldines AFC to develop an all-weather astro pitch.
The facility will be available to St Patrick's boys and girls schools, Richmond RFC and St Patrick's GAA.
