Man arrested after broad daylight knife attack in Limerick

A man is being detained in Henry Street

A MAN has been arrested following a broad daylight knife attack in Limerick city.

The incident occurred on Henry Street this Wednesday at around 1.30pm.

One eye witness told Limerick Live: "There were two fellas squaring up to each other. One of them had a knife. I heard shouts of "let's go, let's go".

"There was traffic going past and people around. It was crazy. The unarmed fella tried to kick the fella with a knife. The guy with the knife was dancing around like a boxer and swung at him with the knife."

A garda spokesperson confirmed that officers investigating an assault that took place on Henry Street have arrested a man in his 30s.

"He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Henry Street Garda station," said the garda spokesperson.

It understood that medical treatment was not sought by the injured party at the scene.

"Investigations are ongoing," said the garda spokesperson.
