GOLFERS keen to try their skills on some of the country’s top courses should take note of a new website set up by two Limerick men.

Golfmiles.com is a new online golfing community set up by Gary Neville and David Hickey, who spent two years researching the market to bring value to golfers.

The website allows users to purchase great value quality golf experiences from some of the top courses in Ireland and gives points or ‘miles’ in return for purchases, which can be exchanged for free rewards.

Golfers get 10% back on every purchase, a “simple win-win proposition” according to the founders.

“On golfmiles.com, a golf experience consists of a golf-related activity, like playing golf or having a golf lesson, combined with any other service a golf club or facility might provide, for example; food, accommodation or spa treatments,” explained co-founder Gary Neville.

“So, whether you’re a keen golfer, a beginner getting to grips with the game, or a parent interested in a family day out at a golf club, the golf experiences presented to registered users will be tailored specifically to their personal golf profile,” he added.

The duo, keen golfers in their own right, approached golf clubs and interviewed golfers over a two year period to develop the idea. They were recently accepted to the Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) Hartnett Centre which has an Enterprise Acceleration Centre for new businesses.

Golfmiles.com boasts Adare Manor, Shannon Golf Club, Dooks in Kerry, Glasson Golf Club in Athlone, Powerscourt in Co. Wicklow, K-Club in Kildare and more on their books, a fact that co-founder David Hickey is keen to emphasize.

“We’re in the process of setting up some more clubs and we’re delighted to have so many more in the pipeline,” he explained.
