LIMERICK’S inaugural ‘Love Gourmet Week’ continues this week, with 14 of the top restaurants in the region backing the innovative new project which aims to raise Limerick’s “foodie profile”.

The top restaurants in Limerick and the Shannon region have combined to offer the fine dining experience at an exceptional price as part of the initiative, which runs until June 12 and is supported by local restaurateurs, the Limerick Leader, Limerick’s Live 95FM and other local producers.

The participating restaurants in ‘Love Gourmet Week’ will feature superb menus priced at €35 per person, offering unique culinary specials made with locally sourced produce.

Every evening, diners will be presented with a special “Love Gourmet Week” menu featuring locally produced, top quality gourmet specials, and Dan Mullane, proprietor of the Mustard Seed in Ballingarry, believes the initiative will “create an energy” in the local restaurant industry.

“This is a wonderful initiative, Limerick does have so much to offer, we have always had good quality producers and we are in the heart of the golden vale, and it is great to see the amount of people that want to come to Limerick for food,” said the Mustard Seed boss.

“There is something for everybody in these restaurants and there is unbelievable value with this offer - and the dining out experience is not just about dinner, you have to think about all of things that go into creating a restaurant dining experience - it is about the welcome, the service, the quality of the food.”

Padraic Frawley, chairperson of Love Gourmet Week, said the event will raise the food profile of the Mid West, local producers and enhance Limerick’s reputation as a “foodie hub”.

“Limerick and the Shannon Region have some fantastic restaurants with quality food, wine and great dining options to choose from so we’re hoping to attract new visitors and foodies through Love Gourmet Week,” said Mr Frawley.

Also involved in the offer are Adare Manor: Azur; Bunratty Manor; The Cornstore; The Glasshouse; The Hamptons; The Market Square; The River Bistro; The Cherry Tree; La Piccola; Brasserie One at No.1 Pery Square; The River Restaurant at the Strand Hotel and Synergie at The Clarion Hotel.
