SIXTY is very much on the mind of found of Bóthar founder Peter Ireton this week, as he prepares for a 60k walk to fund the transfer of 60 heifers to African families.

Not only that but he will celebrate his 60th birthday later this month.

The co-founder of livestock aid agency Bóthar, Peter will next Satuday, April 21, with a small party, go on a 60k return trek from Limerick to Killaloe to raise funds for the airlift and placement costs for 60 heifers later this year. The walk is part of the year long celebrations to mark the 21st anniversary of the charity.

Pete chose the mammoth 60k target as 60 heifers have so far been pledged by Irish farmers for African families. “It’s a big undertaking but I have been so encouraged by the support that has come in by way of sponsorship and we are hoping for more over the next ten days or so. I will be turning 60 a few days later so I am hoping to show that 60 is the new 40 as well.”
