AVID Limerick Leader readers will remember the story of a young Limerick man who appeared in the paper two months ago, aiming to lose a massive 10 stone in weight.
Tom O’Neill, a former security guard, stands at six foot and weighed 26 stone in October.
Now, thanks to a weight loss programme from Limerick based fitness specialists System 10, Mr O’Neill has lost over two and a half stone in five weeks.
Living in Steamboat Quay with his fiancee Joanne, Mr O’ Neill is bidding to reach his target weight in time for his wedding in 2013.
“It’s tough going, but it’s bringing me the right places. My aim is to lose the weight, and once I lose it, to keep it off. I had grown out of all of my clothes so I decided to take some action. I’m getting married in two years as well so I want to lose the weight for the wedding,†Mr O’Neill explained.
Mr O’Neill also plans to run the Limerick City Marathon next year, an added incentive for him to slim down.
His target weight is 16 stone, which would be a difference of 10 stone from what he weighed prior to the programme.
“I’m eating a lot healthier, and I’m so motivated now that I don’t see it as much of a sacrifice. I’m concsious now of what I eat,†he said.
He has been undergoing an intense fitness programme under the stewardship of System 10 trainer David McDonagh, with early morning sessions and a weekly food plan.
“David has been great. He really helps you to keep motivated and it’s a great feeling when people tell you they can see the difference already.
“They keep telling me I’m losing it off my face though, it’s not there I need to lose it at all!†Mr O’Neill joked.
