THE LATEST craze is coming to Limerick this week, with a 5km mud run through Limerick Racecourse in Patrickswell on Saturday.
Participants are asked to take part to raise money for Barnardos, Ireland’s leading children’s charity.
The ‘Mud Run’ is a 5km muddy challenge that takes participants through a series of obstacles including mud pits, water pools and mud slides.
Families are also encouraged to come along on the day children can get involved in ‘Mud Kidz’.
The junior course promises to be a fun challenge for boys and girls from 8-12 years.
It will be run over a shorter course – 1km - but will still have all the adventure to keep them entertained.
It will take place on Saturday, June 18, and there will be plenty of entertainment and a barbeque on the day.
Cost of registration is €30 for individuals, groups of four can register for €100, while Mud Kidz costs just €15.
There will be novelty prizes presented to the first male and female to cross the finish line as well as prizes for the best fancy dress and first group to finish on the day. All participants will also receive a special Mud Run t-shirt.
Registration for the event is available at www.mudrun.ie.
People who register and pay on-line are also automatically entered into a draw for a prize of a four-star weekend break for two, including an evening meal on one of the nights, at the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris, Co Mayo.
