THE IRISH Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) has a need for blood donors to attend its upcoming Limerick blood donation clinics.
Demand for blood is up 8% over the corresponding period last year.
Last month recorded the highest demand for blood product requests from Irish hospitals and the IBTS issued a pre-amber alert to Irish hospitals urging them to conserve blood stocks last October.

Escalation to a full AMBER-Alert could impact on scheduled hospital procedures which require blood product support.
Details of the clinics are as follows: Devon Inn Templeglantine, Thursday, December 11, 16:50–20:10. Abundant Life Henry Street (Opposite garda station), Friday, December 12, 3.50pm–7.10pm. Castletroy Park Hotel, Sunday, December 15, 11:50am – 15:10pm. Castletroy Park Hotel, December 16, 4:20pm–7:40pm. Longcourt House Hotel Newcastle West, Tuesday, December 17 and Wednesday, December 18, 4:50am–8:10pm. Radisson Hotel Ennis Road, Sunday, December 22, 11:50am–15:10pm and Castletroy Park Hotel, Sunday, January 5, 11.50am–3.10pm.
