Historic Limerick hospital on sale for €12.5 million

LOCATED on George's Quay in Limerick's city centre, historical Barrington's Hospital is now on the market.

A landmark building in itself, the hospital is currently owned by the Bon Secours Health System, and was purchased by the Cork-based system in 2017.

The independent healthcare provider is due to relocate to to a purpose-built 170-bed hospital in Towlerton, Ballysimon by Easter 2025.

It has been reported by the Irish Times that the sale of the George's Quay building is to be processed through property consultants, Bannon, at a guide price of €12.5 million.

The river-fronted three-storey building was built by the Barrington family in 1829.  

The latest development in Ballysimon will see the ground floor contain outpatient radiology services provided by Bon Secours Diagnostic Imaging, a joint venture between Bon Secours Health System and Alliance Medical Diagnostic Imaging.

The radiology service will also include MRI, CT, X-Ray, dexa, ultrasound and for the first time in the region, Pet CT scanning.
