Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy are in action this week at Royal Portrush
Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy are among the Irish hopefuls as the Open championship returns to Royal Portrush on Thursday.
Lowry won the Open at Royal Portrush back in 2019 while McIlroy comes into the tournament as the US Masters champion. Padraig Harrington, Darren Clarke and Tom McKibbin are the other Irish contenders for the major title.
Shane Lowry tees off in a box office group on Thursday alongside world number one and tournament favourite Scottie Scheffler and world number six Collin Morikawa. The trio get underway at 10.09am on Thursday.
Fans will have to wait until Thursday afternoon to see Rory McIlroy in action as the Holywood man tees off at 3.10pm alongside Justin Thomas and Tommy Fleetwood.
You can watch The Open 2025 live on Sky Sports from Thursday to Sunday. Coverage kicks off at 6:30am Irish time on the first two days, and from 9am at the weekend.

BETTING ODDS
Scottie Scheffler is the 4/1 favourite for the fourth major of the year. Rory McIlroy is a 6/1 shot while Shane Lowry can be backed at odds of 35/1 despite being a former winner at the same course.
