Eoin Hayes of the Social Democrats, who got elected in Dublin Bay South, campaigning ahead of last summer's local election
THERE were mixed fortunes for Limerick politicians based in Dublin at the General Election.
Neasa Hourigan, who was elected as part of the Green Party wave in February 2020, lost her seat in Dublin Central.
The daughter of former Fine Gael Mayor of Limerick Michael Hourigan fell victim to the Green’s near wipeout, which also claimed Brian Leddin in Limerick City.

She was eliminated on the ninth count in the four seater, polling just 2,352 - down from the 6,126 she got in 2020.
But there was better news for another Limerick man in Dublin.
Eoin Hayes, who studied at Castletroy College, was elected in Dublin Bay South for the Social Democrats, who have upped their seat count from six in 2020 to 11 now.
In 2012 he worked as a data manager for US president Barack Obama at his campaign headquarters.
Meanwhile, Joe Neville, the Mayor of Kildare secured election in Kildare North for Fine Gael.
A chartered account based in Leixlip, he is the first cousin of former Tom Neville who served as a Fine Gael TD in Limerick County, and a nephew of Dan Neville, also a former Limerick FG TD.
