Gardaí issue advice for marking personal property after trailer stolen from Limerick farm

Property-marking machines available via gardaí
GARDAÍ have issued advice on marking personal property after a trailer was stolen from a field in Kilmallock.
Property marking is available to all communities in Limerick, with gardaí able to set up the property-marking machine at any community event.
“Items like your mobile phone, bicycle, tools and trailers can be marked with the owner’s Eircode,” said Sergeant Ber Leetch of Henry Street garda station.
“Just contact your local garda station for information.”
This advice follows a report to gardaí where an Ifor Williams trailer was stolen from a field in Kilmallock between 7pm on Wednesday, September 25 and 7am the next day.
“The gate to the field was secured with a chain and lock but the thief broke into the field, and towed the trailer away,” Sgt Leetch said.
“There are many good quality trailer locks available, but the best means of securing a trailer is to keep it out of sight and locked into a shed, close to the owner’s home,” she advised.
“The more identifying marks you have on your trailer the better your chance of gardai returning it to you if it is found or seized.”
The public are asked to contact Kilmallock gardaí at 063 98018 with any information they may have.
