GARDAI are investigating the theft of a number of valuable bicyles from a home in Limerick city.

The bikes, which are worth around €13,000, were taken during a recent burglary in the Monaleen area.

According to gardai, a woman who lives at the house returned home having been away for around three hours away to discover there had been a break-in.

"Her garage door had been prised open and four bicycles to the value of over €13,000 had been taken. These bicycles will likely be offered for sale, refuse any offers to buy these or any items and report the incident to your local gardai," said divisional crime prevention officer Sergeant Ber Leetch.

It's likely the cuplrits had some form of transport to remove the bicycles so anyone with information is asked to come forward.

Gardai at Henry Street are investigating the incident and can be contacted at (061) 212400.
