THE Limerick senior hurlers will make their first competitive appearance of 2013 on Sunday January 20 in the Waterford Crystal Cup.

John Allen’s Limerick play Mary Immaculate College in that preliminary round game in Bruff at 2.00.

If Limerick are victorious, they would advance to the quarter-final away to Tipperary.

Limerick continue preparations with a challenge game against Davy Fitzgerald’s Clare this Saturday afternoon at 12.30 in the GAA grounds in Limerick IT.

Last weekend, Limerick dusted off the Christmas cobwebs with a challenge game against UL.

Limerick, who are working with a panel of 39 at present, used a total of 23 players in the game.

All 10 newcomers to the panel were given game-time.

And, Limerick panellists Tom Ryan and Mark Carmody were among the UL side, at wing back and corner back respectively.

Limerick will open their Division 1B league campaign on February 24 against Antrim in the Gaelic Grounds.
