THE draws for the 2013 Limerick intermediate hurling championship was made this Tuesday night at the February County Board meeting in Claughaun.

The home club have been drawn in Group 4 along with fellow Limerick city side, Mungret. They are joined by south side Glenroe and Ballybricken-Bohermore. Ballybricken-Bohermore were relegated last season but were given a reprieve by the restructuring of the club hurling championships for 2014.

That restructuring means that the 2013 Limerick IHC winners will not be promoted to the senior grade for 2014.

Instead the four semi-finalists of the 2013 IHC will be ‘promoted’ to the newly created Premier Intermediate Championship.

The toughest of the four groups appears to be Group 3 with south rivals Dromin-Athlacca and Bruff. This group also includes 2012 junior A champions St Kierans and Caherline.

Just like at senior football level, Monaleen and Pallasgreen will meet at intermediate hurling level. They are drawn in Group 1 along with Knockaderry and Blackrock.

The fourth group will see west rivals Killeedy and Newcastle West (managed by former Cork dual star Teddy McCarthy) face each other. Completing the group are Kildimo-Pallaskenry and Cappamore.
