Limerick hurlers paired with Tipp in Munster draw

THE Limerick hurlers have been drawn to play Tipperary in next year’s Munster championship.

THE Limerick hurlers have been drawn to play Tipperary in next year’s Munster championship.

For the second year running Limerick have been handed a clash with the Munster champions but this time it will be in the semi-final and, because of the home and away agreement between the counties, it will be in the Gaelic Grounds.

John Allen’s men were beaten by Tipp in this year’s championship in Semple Stadium but at one stage in the second half were seven points up. Limerick later went on to record wins over Antrim, Laois and Clare in the All Ireland Qualifiers but were beaten by Kilkenny in the All Ireland quarter-final. Tipp won the Munster championship after further wins over Cork and Waterford but were no match for Kilkenny in the All Ireland semi-final, a result that ended Declan Ryan’s spell as manager. Tipperary have since appointed former coach Eamon O’Shea as manager.

On the side of the draw, Clare and Waterford will meet in the quarter-final with the winners meeting Cork in the semi-final.
