ARDSCOIL Ris are into the Harty Cup quarter-finals for a seventh successive season after a 1-10 to 1-9 win over De La Salle this Wednesday.

And they will top their group, with a game against Clonmel still to play.

Cian O’Brien set them on their way with a goal in the opening minutes.

By half time they led by four points.

But the Waterford colleges fought back and Ardscoil needed a late point from Cian Lynch to steady their nerves and advance into the January draw for the quarter-finals, where they could yet meet Doon CBS.

CASTLETROY College kept alive their aspirations with this 2-11 to 2-7 win over St Colmans of Fermoy.

They now need to beat De Le Salle in Cashel next Wednesday (1.30) to book a quarter-final spot.

If they beat the Waterford side they would advance as runners-up to Ardscoil Ris and bring the Limerick schools to three in the quarter-finals.

They lost to Ardscoil in round one but have bounced back well.

WEST Limerick’s maiden voyage in the Dr Harty Cup has come to an end after their 3-11 to 0-12 defeat to Charleville CBS.

The amalgamation of Hazelwood College, Colaiste na Trocaire and Desmond College needed to win this final round game in Dromcollogher. Charleville were 1-6 to 0-6 ahead at half time. Limerick were over reliant on the frees of Damien Lacey and then two further Charleville goals sealed the win.
