In the end, Limerick were 0-18 to 1-12 winners over Anthony Daly’s Dublin.

Both sides were short many regulars as Limerick’s management again used Seamus Hickey and Brian Geary as their central defensive partnership.

In a change from the Allianz Hurling League, Limerick have used Geary and Hickey in recent challenge games.

Just a game against Galway remains ahead of the Munster championship on May 27.

The sides were level at the break, 0-8 to 1-5 with Shane Stapleton getting the Dublin goal after just 50 seconds.

Two points from Sean Tobin was the highlight of a largely lacklustre first half.

The second half was much better with a great intensity from both sides.

Sub Graeme Mulcahy and Kevin Downes both landed two points from play, while Shane Dowling scoring four points in the half.

Limerick could have won by more but for 12 wides, compared to five for Dublin.
