MOUNTCOLLINS boosted their chances of reaching the Limerick SFC quarter-finals after a deserved 2-14 to 2-9 win over St Patrick’s under the Friday night lights at Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale.

Goals from Tom McCarthy and Stephen Cahill helped Mountcollins into a 2-6 to 0-2 lead early on and although Jason Mullins hit back with a goal for the city side, Mountcollins still took a 2-7 to 1-3 lead in at the break.

Mullins’ second goal early in the second half reduced the gap to four but Mountcollins always managed to do enough to stay ahead and they eventually ran out five-point winners.
